Khausay is a dish that I love to cook and is well-received by my family. Although it may seem too long to follow but believe me, if you try...

“Larka hai to engineer banega aur larki hai to doctor”.

This famous movie dialogue is an actual depiction of our mentality. These two career choices are not only bound to believe and followed. These are also regarded with uttermost respect in our society.

No, I’m against these careers at all. But I’m definitely against the forced culture. Every mindset is different and unique. It’s so unfair to expect it to behave in a mundane way. The natural inclination of a person is a reflection of his/her passion. Some excel at arts; others in mathematics etc. Giving your children the freedom of career choice will not only allow them to be prosperous but happy too.

Being a bright student, I was expected to be a doctor. In fact; I did intermediate with a premedical background. There, I was with classmates who were anxious aspirants of the medical future. On the other hand, I was more fascinated by teaching. Inspiring students to listen, motivating them to do good was exciting. I had eventually made up my mind to pursue teaching as a career. Since being a part of a typical goal-oriented family, so this decision of mine wasn’t well-received. By family, I mean close relatives of my parents. For them, being successful means you’re in either of those fields. Kudos to my parents, who stood by me and made my relatives understand that she’ll be successful. No matter what field she chooses. It was their confidence that resulted in an exuberant academic journey of mine. I aced the first two job interviews. I was appointed as a lecturer at a renowned college. Since teaching is my passion and it’s something that boosts my soul. I strive hard to be more empathetic. As a result, students are more connected. I’m being highly liked by my students (it’s a fact guys, not an exaggeration lol). Such a gesture is overwhelming and motivating for any teacher.

Over time, my students are also going through the same phase of career choices. Their anxiety and pensiveness reminisce my teenage life. So, at the end of the lesson, I make sure to motivate them and keep up their livelihood. I emphasize the point: ''Follow the career which is your passion. It is YOU who matters the most and it is YOU who needs to be happy with the choices.

Prioritize your happiness over the pressures of society. Your happiness will be the tool to deal with life positively. You will eventually make you and your family proud''. Of course, students’ value and appreciate my cents of thoughts.

The food and drink industry is full of flavor and just bursting with opportunities for people like anyone who are looking for a career that is well paid, rewarding, interesting, diverse, and exciting. Be it a home delivery business to ownership of a café.

It is the most ideal path for students to bring in some additional pocket cash as it is kind with the hours so they don't need to stress over checking in for work or fulfilling odd hours for a time while keeping up classes and schoolwork. Students can undoubtedly discover gigs on the web and make money to take care of their understudy expenses or simply party it out!

So, to summarize everything, freelancing sure is advancing toward Pakistan and has effectively found the pattern which makes it a win as a profession here in Pakistan. I will write a separate blog post regarding resources that I have found helpful in learning to freelance.

The covid times presented life more vividly and made us think about those life careers which otherwise were being given least heed. On and all, life’s too short to live under pressure and expecting safe choices to be your saviors. Go for a career that doesn’t seem like a stressful job. Grab the choice which can be passionately pursued as well as enjoyed. Owning your journey and going through it bravely would be the most amazing you’ll ever do.

Welcome to the first blog post of a realist, who spreads kindness wherever she goes. I, Zainab, am a passionate teacher who is trying to make the most out of life. Had I been not a teacher, I would have been a blogger. But life happened and my urge declined somewhere amidst non-ending errands of daily life. So, this year, procrastination has finally been diminished.
